SydCom wins Warra naming rights

Commercial horticultural services company SydCOM has secured naming rights to The Warra, one of the headline races on The Gong Raceday program.

The company won the opportunity through The Warra Club’s annual sponsorship draw. More than 40 businesses participated, with members drawn at random and allocated races on the card before the final business selected claimed naming rights to the Listed 1000-metre sprint.

The race will be run as the SydCOM The Warra on Saturday, 21 November 2026, and carries prizemoney of $300,000, making it the second-richest race on the Illawarra Turf Club calendar.

SydCOM Director Ben Paterson said the result was an unexpected bonus in the company’s first year as a member of The Warra Club.

“Our close friends at Peak Gardens introduced us to The Warra Club as a great way to network, meet new people and socialise,” Paterson said. “Winning this year’s naming rights has been amazing. We came on board thinking the sponsorship would be good for the business and didn’t expect to be catapulted straight to the top.”

Illawarra Turf Club Chief Executive Steven Keene said The Warra Club had proven highly successful since its introduction three years ago.

“It’s a unique sponsorship opportunity,” Keene said. “It gives businesses of all sizes a chance to win naming rights to a feature race on our premier day, and the exposure from that is priceless.”
