Unbeaten Autumn Glow handicapped on 56.5kg in Doncaster Mile
Pre-post favourite Autumn Glow has been handicapped on 56.5kg as the highest weighted mare for the $4 million Doncaster Mile.
Looking to extend her unbeaten record to 10 wins in the Group 1 Verry Elleegant Stakes at Randwick on Saturday, Autumn Glow has 1kg more than fellow mares, last year’s winner Stefi Magnetica and Group 1-winning stablemate Lady Shenandoah.
Autumn Glow’s winning sequence includes the 2025 Epsom Handicap, but she is far from certain to be given her chance to complete Sydney’s prestigious mile double, with a weight-for-age program considered a logical autumn pathway.
The four-year-old is already an unbackable favourite in all-in Verry Elleegant betting after her winning return in the Apollo Stakes on February 14.
A total of 139 nominations have been weighed for the Doncaster, one of the features on the opening day of The Championships at Randwick on April 4.
Topweight has been allocated to four-time Group 1 winner Ceolwulf on 59kg, while Gringotts, the 2025 George Ryder Stakes winner, carries 58.5kg, with Sir Delius, victorious in the Underwood Stakes and Turnbull Stakes during the Melbourne spring, allocated 58kg.
Autumn Boy and Observer are the highest-rated three-year-olds with 52kg.
New Zealand star Well Written heads the weight for the three-year-old fillies at 50kg, while 2025 Flight Stakes winner Apocalyptic (49kg) and Group 2 Ingham Stakes winner Yorkshire (53kg) are exempt from ballot.
